Victory: Bad “Luck” for Tolzien and the Colts

Let’s Go! The Rams could not have started the season and the Sean McVay era any better. The offense was clicking, the defense was ferocious, and the special teams put on a clinic. It was a great performance.

I came into the season with low expectations. Hoping for a high draft pick and the hope for a better future. However, after Sunday’s performance, I think the Rams may have what it takes to sneak into a playoff spot. The defense (without All-Pro Aaron Donald) was savages, ball hawking and turning two takeaways into scores. Trumaine Johnson the man, a talented specimen of a man, had an interesting off season with the team. The long-term contract agreement couldn’t come to fruition. Yet he led the charge with a forced fumble and recovery and a pick six, interception touchdown. If he keeps this performance up I don’t see how he wouldn’t be in the team’s future plans. The whole unit played together and with passion and as a fan it was great seeing. The line put pressure on weak-ass Tolzien, stuffed up the run game, and caused pressure all day. It was an exciting performance and with the return of Donald impending, I can’t wait to see the full potential of this special unit.

The one aspect I was most excited about was the FUTURE, aka, Goff Daddy, Jared Goff. I never lost hope in the former 1st round pick and last Sunday showed exactly the potential he possesses. He threw for over 300 yards and showed poise in the pocket and easily had the best performance of his career. Todd Gurley showed great skill as a pass catcher and showed grit and determination, while facing fronts that stuffed the line all game. New addition Sammy Watkins caught 5 passes and took another step forward in his progression with QB Jared Goff. Overall, it was still a little rust sprinkled in, but it was a great change from last year’s offense.

I’m excited! I know it’s only the 1st week and the Rams tend to break my heart, I hope this will last and I won’t have to root for another tanking season. I believe in McVay and I believe in this squad. They showed that they can score with the best of the NFL and stop teams just as strongly. Week 1 is in the books, and I am going into the next week with a added hope…LET’S GO!
