Best Time of the Year
The Best Time of the Year!
The dog days of summer can only mean one thing! Fall! The best time of the
year because all the major sports are back baby! For an avid sports watcher like
myself and a big fan of gambling (just a fan, not participator FYI) having every major
sport on after each other brings tingles to my body and a sense that had been
missing for months prior.
The thought of watching playoff baseball and regular season games of NBA,
NHL, and NFL all on the same day gives me hope that the world will one day achieve
world peace after all. For me personally, the best story lines for the upcoming
season are “Rocktober”, “McVay’s Experiment”, “Big Ballin’ season”, and the Kings
As I wrote in the previous blog, The Rockies are in uncharted territory. They
are playing meaningful games in the fall. I hope they can keep the momentum of
team chemistry and surprising pitching to make some noise in a league that has
been dominated by the team in Chavez Ravine. For the Rams, the pieces of the
puzzle are all leading to the final product set to make their debut against the
Indianapolis Colts. The youngest coach in the NFL has to show that he can hang with
the big boys and that the Rams are not a laughingstock of mediocrity that they’ve
been with the Jeff Fisher era. Big Baller Brand is about to make their debut in the
NBA, and I cannot be more excited. Lonzo brings a sense of excitement to a team
that I haven’t felt since the Mamba days. Hopefully this young core grows together
and paired with Paul George and LeBron next season, go for another Larry O’Brien
as they should each and every year. Lastly, the Kings who have been
disappointments in the last couple seasons shook up their coaching by getting rid of
Darryl Sutter. He brought 2 cups to LA and for that we are forever grateful.
However, with the offense scoring as much as a 30 year old who lives in his mother’s
basement changes needed to be made. With the core of Kopi, Drew, and Quick still in
tact, hopefully they can right the ship and hoist the cup once again.
I am salivating writing these headlines and it is such a great feeling. Sports
are back, and boy am I one happy Camper!
